Materials
Shirt-shaped paper mache sign (Found at Michael’s Craft Stores)
Liquitex Basics Gesso (creates a smooth surface on otherwise porous surfaces, making it easier to paint)
Black craft pen
Medium flat brush
Large scruffy paintbrush
Acrylic sealer spray, matte
Acrylic paint: red, yellow, white
Instructions
Paint the entire sign with one coat of Gesso. Â If you don’t have Gesso, you can find it in the art department of any craft or hobby store, or you can use a coat of white acrylic paint. Â Allow to dry completely.
Paint the entire sign with yellow acrylic paint. Â Let dry and repeat with a second coat of paint. Let dry.
Use a medium flat brush to paint wide red stripes, starting at the bottom of the shirt and working your way upward.  The stripes do not require a pattern – uneven lines add to the character of this project.  Paint a red collar band and sleeve bands.  Repeat on the other side. Allow the whole shirt to dry completely before moving on.
Use a large scruffy brush to dab on a white oval in the center of the shirt. Â Let dry, then repeat. Â Let the second coat dry completely.
Use a black craft pen to write “outside playing” on one side and “doing homework” on the other side. Â Spray both side with acrylic sealer spray and let the signs dry overnight.
Thank you, we intended to put in low- to zero-VOC before the acrylic paint as there are those products available in the market. Thanks for the catch! Enjoy future crafts from GLAZ and thank you for your response.
