The World’s First Hemp Running Shoes Have Launched on Kickstarter

Hemp shoe brand 8000Kicks has launched a new campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds to bring its newest iteration of shoes to life. Called the Runner, it is the world’s first hemp running shoe. Geared towards all-day comfort and performance, the shoes feature a modern look and more durable and breathable hemp knit fabric, along with an enhanced sole and bouncing speed board inside. The upper is made of a knitted hemp elastic sock, perfectly adjustable to every foot, wide or narrow, with and without socks. These new Runners complement 8000Kicks’ existing line of casual hemp shoes and accessories, available in four stylish colors: full black, black & white, pink and white.

Why hemp?

Hemp serves as nature’s purifier, playing a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future:

  • The plant effectively captures carbon dioxide, removing 1.63 tonnes for every ton of hemp fiber produced — surpassing trees in carbon sequestration;
  • A single acre of hemp produces as much fiber as two acres of cotton;
  • Hemp rejuvenates nutrient-depleted soil and counteracts erosion;
  • Cultivating hemp doesn’t need herbicides or pesticides;
  • Known for its incredible strength, hemp was utilized by Henry Ford in car manufacturing;
  • Inherently anti-bacterial and anti-microbial, hemp embodies nature’s resilience.

Commitment to Sustainability

8000Kicks dedication to sustainability extends beyond the construction of its shoes, using recycled materials for its shipping components, as well. The company also plants trees for each order it receives, working to offset its carbon footprint

The new running shoes can be purchased for up to 50% off during the Kickstarter campaign that runs through April 20, 2024.
