Join Us at Envision Tucson Sustainable Festival

Envision Tucson Sustainable Festival
By Lauren Griffin

Green Living Magazine is proud to be a sponsor of the 5th annual Envision Tucson Sustainable Festival! The event will take place on Sunday, October 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Held at the YWCA, located at 525 N. Bonita Ave., the festival will showcase the qualities of a sustainable desert lifestyle. Families are welcome to join the festivities and admission and parking is free.

The goal of the festival is to encourage members of the community to envision ways to create a more sustainable city, future, and way of living by encouraging the idea to “Think Globally” and “Act Locally.” To accomplish this mission, the event will provide education on issues such as solar power, growing food, transportation, and much more. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with local organizations, vendors, and exhibitors to learn about changes they can make to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. The Climate Leadership Challenge Awards will be presented to recipients by the Southern Arizona Green Chamber of Commerce to honor community efforts for positive change.

3One unique feature of the festival is the presentation of local food preparation and demonstration of solar cooking. Guests can also take the PAG Solar Partnership’s tour of solar powered homes in the area. Tucson Electric Vehicle Association will display a collection of electric vehicles and will answer any questions.

Festival guests can participate by sharing their ideas for change and contributions on the Pledge Wall that will serve as a vision board for individual and collective sustainability plans. Speakers, musical entertainment, and kids activities will provide a positive and educational environment for all ages. Join the free, family-friendly Envision Tucson Sustainable Festival for a day full of learning about creating a green future for the desert region and the city of Tucson, and say hi to the Green Living team while you’re there!
