The results are in! Earlier today, Solidiance, an Asia Pacific-focused management consultancy, published its list of the top 10 global cities for green building performance. See which cities made the cut below.
- Paris
- Singapore
- London
- Sydney
- Tokyo
- Hong Kong
- New York
- Dubai
- Beijing
- Shanghai
The company used four categories to determine the ranking:
- City-wide green building landscape
- Green building efficiency and performance
- Building policies and targets
- Green city culture and environment
London and Paris were the front-runners in the green building landscape category. Sixty-eight percent of London’s buildings comprise of green buildings compared to Paris, which scored 64 percent. However, Paris took the top spot for green building efficiency and performance with 23.7 percent. Sydney trailed close behind with 22.3 percent.
Both Singapore and Sydney stood out among other cities on the list for the building policies and targets category. Singapore, for example, aims to “green” 80 percent of its buildings by 2030. Sydney plans to reduce its carbon emissions by 70 percent by the same year.
For the study’s final category — city culture and environment — top performers included Sydney and Paris with New York coming in third place.
