Scottsdale, Ariz. (June 24,2025) — Mill + R.City, the one-two punch for everyday sustainability in the Valley that transforms food scraps into nutrient-rich material, returns to the Scottsdale 4th of July Celebration at WestWorld to support the event’s sustainability efforts.
Backyard BBQ by M Culinary Concepts and Chef Michael DeMaria, presented this year by Mill + R.City, is where the rubber meets the road at Scottsdale 4th, last year generating nearly 4,000 pounds of food scraps which were picked up and recycled into nutrient rich compost by local R.City farms.
The festive Scottsdale 4th is a partnership of M Culinary Concepts, R Entertainment, with host, City of Scottsdale.
Scottsdale 4th has been nominated two years in a row, including this year’s Best of 2025 by Green Living Magazine in the category of BEST ECO-FRIENDLY ENTERTAINMENT EVENT. Last year, the event came in second only to Arizona signature event, WM Phoenix Open.
“We are gratified to be recognized in this category and to be a leader in sustainability initiatives,” said Michael Chiulli, President, M Culinary Concepts. “In fact, last year, we were second only to the WM Phoenix Open and on the scale of that Arizona signature event, well let’s just say we’re a very proud runner up.”
Scottsdale 4th Invites All to Participate in Sustainability. Scottsdale 4th of July Celebration at WestWorld, in its 12th year, is doubling down on sustainability efforts, thanks to Mill + R.City and their program that helps anyone across the Phoenix metro area reduce food waste and support local farms.
The Mill food recycler is a new kind of bin designed to make food scraps both easier to manage and more useful. Mill quietly dries and grinds food waste into clean, dry grounds that can be used to feed animals, enrich soil, or produce clean energy. The process is mess-free, no smells, and takes almost no effort. Mill runs as quietly as a dishwasher and uses less than half the energy. After the food recycler fills up (which takes about a month), R.City picks up the scraps and processes them at their local farm. Customers can receive regular Farm Boxes from R.City and finished compost. Learn more at Mill.com/R.City.
