In Memory of Michael Levenberg

BY CHRIS KELLY

It is with profound sadness that we honor the passing of Green Living’s longtime friend, Michael Levenberg of Buffalo Collection. Michael’s vision for sustainability, peace, and love ran deep through his life and work.

The American bison—named the national mammal of the United States—is a symbol of strength and one of the greatest conservation success stories of our time. Like the bison, Michael had the spirit to roam—the unwavering wisdom to move through each day with positivity and gratitude on the beat of his own drum. He embraced each new landscape with pride and purpose, cultivating lasting and meaningful friendships along the way.

He collaborated closely with artists who shared his “no what ifs” philosophy—those who pursued their craft with intention and heart. That legacy is woven into every detail of the Scottsdale showroom he lovingly built with his wife, Laura.

A native of Chicago, Michael’s love for art, music, and travel was shaped by his deep appreciation for the spirit of the American West. With a background in art history and bronze sculpture, he built genuine connections with Western artists, becoming a trusted and thoughtful champion of their work. He was often found on the showroom floor, welcoming guests with warmth, sharing stories, and offering insight into each artist’s creative path. A thoughtful conservationist and critical thinker, Michael was also a lover of good food, live music, and the joy of discovering something new each day.

On August 17, Michael departed this life, following a quiet and courageous battle with cancer—an illness he faced with such grace and strength that many never knew the burden he carried. Though we feel his loss deeply, we find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind: in Laura, in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the vibrant community he so thoughtfully built through his life’s work at Buffalo Collection.
