Stewardship in Action Conference
“Stewardship in Action” is a one-day conference hosted by Urban Farming Education that brings together educators, sustainability leaders, students, industry partners, and community members to explore practical solutions for environmental stewardship.
The conference opens with welcoming remarks from Urban Farming Education and Grand Canyon University, followed by SkyFire Spotlight sessions featuring partners such as Denali, Green Light Solutions, and Valley Metro, highlighting real-world sustainability in action.
Attendees then engage in three focused tracks:
-
Garden Track – Hands-on sessions covering composting, soil health, vermicomposting, nutrition, and water-smart gardening practices tailored to Arizona’s climate.
-
Academic Track – Education-centered sessions demonstrating how Project-Based Learning uses gardens as living STEM classrooms through Urban Farming Education’s curriculum. (Others TBD)
-
Environmental Film Track – Student short films presented as part of the SkyFire Environmental Film Festival, using storytelling to inspire stewardship and systems thinking.
