Dig Online: Self-Sufficient Gardening & Urban Farming
There’s no better time to learn how to garden! Gardening does not have to be an expensive venture—especially through this “dig online” course, which will take place March 18 from 6:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Discover the basics of using self-sustaining, organic methods that can keep your soil healthy and your family fed with fresh homegrown foods. Create an urban farm that is increasingly abundant over time, saving you time and money, yielding healthy food, and benefiting the environment. Bonus: Discover the basics of adding small livestock animals to your backyard garden.
Attendees will learn what a garden needs to be productive and self-sustaining, how to put water, insects, seeds and microbes to work to improve production and promote a self-sufficient system, explore easy ways to save money and make a garden more self-sufficient, examples of how animals and gardens can work together, and resources to get started.
The class will also feature master gardener, Kari Spencer. Kari Spencer is a Maricopa County Master Gardener and an urban farming author. Growing food, homesteading, permaculture and backyard livestock are her way of life, and teaching is her passion. She is the proprietor of The Micro Farm Project and the author of City Farming: How-to Guide to Growing Food and Raising Livestock in Urban Spaces.
