Editor’s Note January 2017

Editor's Note Cover

It’s a cliché, but I can’t believe another year has come and gone so quickly. It seems like just a few short months ago I was typing up my introduction to 2016. A lot has happened this year. Several prominent and beloved celebrities and icons passed away; a new president was elected and we said goodbye to a political era; we’ve made countless technological and healthcare leaps; we’ve seen major advancements in energy and automobile technology; and much more. I always enjoy reflecting on the past year and also looking ahead to what the next year has in store.

In our January Rejuvenation and Wellbeing issue we feature two articles on the time-old tradition of New Year’s resolutions, focusing on how to make and keep them in 2017, and an uncomplicated resolution idea: simplify your life for a healthier, more sustainable, and more financially viable future. You’ll also find health and wellness articles to inspire a healthy diet and lifestyle in the New Year. Learn how to eat like your spine depends on it; explore the Mediterranean ways of eating; eliminate toxins and rebalance hormones; practice five-minute meditations; and more. Well-known local philanthropist Billie Jo Herberger is spotlighted this month, sharing her passions for the environment and health. Also, read more about how local company Solar Pool Technologies recently took the win at our Simple Solutions Summit Eco Tank competition and what they plan to do with their winnings; an introductory look at the NCAA Final Four’s sustainability plans; why partnership is the new leadership in business; Liberty Wildlife’s remarkable new facility; rejuvenating recipes; and much more.

Whatever 2017 has in store for you, remember to ride the waves of change and embrace what’s next. In the words of the late, great David Bowie: “Turn and face the strange/Ch-ch-changes.” Sing it with me now as we embark on a New Year.
