The City of Chandler Nature Photo Contest Accepting Entries Until March 17

EEC Nature Contest
By Riley Hoffman

The city of Chandler is hosting their annual photo contest for all types of photographers. Entries are being accepted until March 17, 2017. The city’s annual Nature Photo Contest is organized by Chandler’s Recreation Division in hopes of getting people to appreciate the great outdoors. This is the 6th year of the photo contest and the entries get better every year.

Whatever nature may mean to you, whether it be an action-packed wildlife shot, bringing light to a complicated environmental issue, or a simple yet stunning landscape portrait, is what the judges are looking for when choosing a winning photo.

HOW TO ENTER:

Your photo is required to fall into one of these three categories:

  1. This Beautiful City
  2. Creature Worth Noticing
  3. Picture Worth a Thousand Words

This contest was created to get people inspired by the great outdoors. If you’re not a Chandler resident, you’re still able to apply and submit a photo. The entry fees for Chandler Residents is $3.00 and $5.00 for non-residents. The entry fee allows you to enter up to six photographs, two per a category.Screen Shot 2017-02-03 at 11.10.23 AM

Not only are professionals encouraged to participate but amateurs as well. Past winners have had their photographs displayed at the Environmental Education Center at Veterans Oasis Park and may also be placed on display at other City of Chandler buildings.

Photos can be submitted online with the link below or can be dropped off in person at the Environmental Center at 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road.

When submitting your photos in person, make sure they’re mounted onto a foam core, making the photos easier to hang on the wall for display.

Start brainstorming your photo ideas and send them in! For more information, contact Dexter Belling at (480) 782-2895 or dexter.belling@chandleraz.gov.
